Spectro.Life remote monitoring of Covid-19 |

Spectro.AI in partnership with Zaraz Digital, together with Family Physician Association from Cluj, helped by Beard Brothers Association and Garmin Health launched Spectro.Life, an app for monitoring COVID-19 patients in home care. Through this solution we would like to contribute to reducing the time it takes a patient to receive treatment starting from the very first symptoms. This reduces complications, shorten recovery, lower treatment costs and physician’s time is better utilized. It’ll help save lives. Patients who report mild symptoms to their physician, confirmed with COVID-19 after testing, but not requiring hospitalization may opt for remote monitoring through the Spectro.Life app and smart devices compatible with Garmin Connect. The app is provided pro bono for both physicians and patients throughout the pandemic and within financial possibilities (see below how you can help) Beard Brothers Association will provide Garmin Vivosmart 4 watches to patients in need through their physician. The app can be utilized for self-monitoring as well without any connectivity to doctors provided the user takes full responsibility both for data input and result interpretation. |

Why Spectro.Life Cases of COVID-19 infection are increasing exponentially and hospitals are facing severe bedside deficiencies for patients. The World Health Organization recommends that all persons suspected of COVID-19 who have a severe acute respiratory infection should be tested at the first point of contact with the health system and emergency treatment should be started depending on the severity of the symptoms. For those with mild symptoms, home treatment is recommended to avoid overloading the health system. However, all patients should be supervised by medical staff. In this case, remote monitoring is the ideal solution for both the relatively stable patient and the doctor. Spectro.Life makes health monitoring easy. After confirming the diagnosis with COVID-19 patients can establish a direct communication with the doctor through the Spectro.Life application for patients. In some hospitals, patients will be equipped with smart devices and will be offered to install the Spectro.Life application for patients. The application connected to Garmin Connect will provide the physician the patient's vital parameters, such as oxygen saturation, heart rate, respiration and other health data. Some parameters, such as body temperature, need to be declared manually. Patient data will be visible to the physician in real time through the Spectro.Life dashboard for physicians. In case of decompensation, the doctor will be able to react in a timely manner. |

Using Spectro.Life After installing Specto.Life, patients will need to carefully read the agreement for the processing of personal data and the Terms and Conditions of the application. This is a very important step to understand what kind of data is being processed by the application. Once they have successfully logged in, they will need to link their Garmin Connect account to Spectro.Life. Once the connection has been established, patients will be able to see some of their health parameters in the application dashboard. The dashboard is also visible to the doctor. Other parameters, such as body temperature, need to be declared manually as often as the doctor recommends. The parameters automatically measured by Garmin Connect compatible watches (Vivosmart 4, Vivoactive 4 and above) are: Heart rate Oxygen saturation Respiratory rate
The manually entered parameters in addition to the above are: Body temperature Blood pressure
In the near future we will introduce other parameters such as: We collect all these in order to provide the doctors with the right context in order to make important decisions. The parameters are color-coded. When one of the parameters is colored red, it means that health is in danger. The patient needs to take measures and consult with the doctor whether it is appropriate to call the emergency services. Therefore, it is very important to enter only the correct values in the application. |

From pilot to deployment in Cluj County and general availability in Romania Spectro.Life is available as a private Beta pilot for 20 people at the moment and we want to extend it to the entire county within 1-2 weeks. It could be Cluj, where this initiative started and where many volunteers and companies worked to make all this possible pro bono. But it could be another county as well. This all depends on the readiness of the authorities to roll it out and our financial possibilities to help as much as possible. We are also looking for companies that can provide the support needed to buy Garmin Vivosmart 4 watches or donate their own watches for the period of the pandemic to Beard Brothers Association. Beard Brothers will make sure the devices reach the patients through their physicians. The solution is provided pro bono as is. The medical treatment is the sole responsibility of the doctor and neither of the parties involved in the solution is responsible for the lack of data, incorrect data or incorrectly timed data and the decisions resulting from them. Doctors must follow existing medical protocols and ensure the health of their patients. The system is provided as a support tool, not as a medical decision-making system. |

Dr. Emiliana Costiug President of the Family Physicians Association Cluj “In the context of the COVID 19 pandemic, telemedicine is the optimal solution to help our patients, respecting social distance but offering monitoring, diagnosis and treatment solutions. Family physicians have remained at the forefront of providing medical care for patients with chronic diseases, assistance for pregnant women and children, minor emergencies and, last but not least, monitoring people in self-isolation at home. More difficult days will probably come, when asymptomatic or mildly infected people will be monitored at home by family doctors. We are trying to be ready for this challenge too! There are software solutions that can help us greatly in monitoring these patients." |

Zsolt Kovács Chief Digital Officer Spectro.AI "As a good news for the Orthodox Easter and to help fight against COVID-19 immediately, we launch Spectro.Life on the day when it is ready for a pilot program. We started more than a year ago with the desire to help people with diabetes, and due to the current situation we shifted focus, we accelerated and now we are making available what we have built for the benefit of the community. We are grateful for having the chance to work with a heartfelt team made up of many volunteers as well without whom we could not launch today to help.” |
